Our Mission

We will develop multi-level solutions (individual, community, institutional, and policy-level) that allow all people to benefit from health advances, partnering with practitioners across disciplines and sectors, while uplifting, engaging, and sharing decision-making power with the community in the pursuit of our vision.

Our Vision

To advance health equity and justice both within neurology and health care more broadly by targeting evolving social and structural determinants of health, with a focus on immigrants, forcibly displaced persons, incarcerated persons, communities of color, lower-income communities, and other persons from marginalized backgrounds.

About Us

Lab Values

1. Evidence-based and Person-Centered

We strive to build and apply evidence-based knowledge to enhance the health of individuals and communities alongside storytelling that communicates personal lived experience and the individual humanity of people we serve

2. Community and Collaboration

We strive to nurture community bonds within and outside the lab to enhance teamwork, inclusion of different academic and non-academic perspectives, and interdisciplinary collaboration

3. Equity, Justice, and Humanity

We strive to recognize the dignity, humanity, and equity of everyone - in policy, research, and clinical practice. We are committed to uplifting the perspectives of the oppressed and using our scientific and healthcare expertise as a tool for ensuring equity and justice

4. Transparency and Accountability

We strive for honesty, transparency, and accountability to each other, our research practices, our career advancement goals, those who support us, our collaborators, and the people we serve.
